Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. Harris is the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously was the attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017 and was a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010 and she was re-elected in 2014. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the second African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to serve in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings has earned the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
