Kyra minturn Sedgwick was born on August 19th 1965. She is an American producer and actress. Her most well-known work is her starring role as deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the TNT crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick was awarded an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for her portrayal as Johnson in 2007. The show ended on August 13th, 2012 following the completion of the seventh season. Sedgwick's performance as Madeline Wuntch in the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine is also noteworthy. Sedgwick was nominated for a Golden Globe award in 1995 for her role on Something to Talk About. Her film credits include Oliver Stone's Born in July (1989) as well as Cameron Crowe's Individuals (1992) The Heart and Souls-1993), Phenomenon (1996), What's cooking (2000) and Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2011) are also among her many. Sedgwick was a New York City native, the daughter of Patricia Rosenwald (nee Rosenwald), teacher and family therapist as well as Henry Dwight Sedgwick VI who was an investor in venture capital. Her mother was Jewish, and her father was Episcopalian. She was also of English heritage. Sedgwick has declared that she is Jewish and has been a participant in Passover meals.
